{Weekend Inspiration} Jonathan Adler

October 11th, 2012 | Posted by skirsner in Uncategorized - (Comments Off)

I needed to buy a birthday gift for a friend and I could not think of what to get her. I pride myself on being an amazing gift giver and this time I was stumped. I thought about what she loves and interior design was the first thing to pop into my head, so I headed to the Jonathan Adler store to see what I could find for her. That store is my “happy place,” it’s impossible not to smile in there– the bright colors and patterns are an immediate mood lifter. After being transfixed by everything in sight, I emerged with the perfect gift!

I took some photos of my favorite prints and “stitched” them together above. His prints want to make me use more color in my life, my living space, and my designs. Whose prints and colors inspire you?

{Saturday’s Song} Only You

October 8th, 2012 | Posted by skirsner in Uncategorized - (Comments Off)

Only You

Looking from a window above
It’s like a story of love, can you hear me?
Came back only yesterday
I’m moving farther away, want you near me

All I needed was the love you gave
All I needed for another day
And all I ever knew, only you

Sometimes when I think of her name
When it’s only a game and I need you
Listen to the words that you say
It’s getting harder to stay when I see you

All I needed was the love you gave
All I needed for another day
And all I ever knew, only you

All I needed was the love you gave
All I needed for another day
And all I ever knew, only you

This is going to take a long time
And I wonder what’s mine, can’t take no more
Wonder if you’ll understand
It’s just the touch of your hand behind a closed door

All I needed was the love you gave
All I needed for another day
And all I ever knew, only you

{Giveaway Winner} Trena Berkner

October 4th, 2012 | Posted by skirsner in Uncategorized - (Comments Off)

Our latest giveaway winner, Trena, is the lucky recipient of a Doie Lounge Lilian robe from our contest with Style Me Pretty (destinations)! When I asked her if she wanted to share anything about her engagement, she wrote back with the story below. Such a cute story and beautiful photos from photographer Katy Weaver

“Jeremy and I met on campus at Oregon State University our sophomore year. Yes, the Beavers; boo the ducks! (wink) We talked about getting married someday, but it was always that, someday. But one day, Jeremy decided that someday would be sooner than I thought! He bought a ring, and completely surprised me one day after I got off work. It was at home, private, and totally perfect. He usually surprises me with little gifts, and that day I thought no different when he said he had something for me. But the sparkler that he revealed was way more than I expected, and amazing!”
“Our engagement will be almost two years, so we are very excited to get married in July of 2013! We are getting married outside Portland, Oregon, at a Masonic Lodge turned Hotel, that is known for it’s amazing food and brews. It will be an outdoor garden party with lawn games, since we are a very laid back couple who loves to just have fun. We can’t wait to start this new chapter in our lives!”

{Morning Of Your Wedding} Guest Blogger

October 3rd, 2012 | Posted by skirsner in Uncategorized - (Comments Off)

For most brides, the morning of their wedding will be spent having their hair and make-up done, organising the final touches for their big day, and relaxing with their brides in luxurious Doie robes! However, if you want to make sure that everything goes according to plan, there are one or two things which you should consider bearing in mind.

Firstly, give yourself plenty of time. The morning of your wedding is all about preparation, and you won’t want to feel like you’re being rushed. Although you won’t want to spent the whole morning in your wedding dress, make sure you have your bespoke gown, your wedding shoes and your 77 Diamonds jewelry to hand, so that you don’t find yourself searching for anything at the last minute. Arrange for any deliveries which you are waiting for to be delivered as early as possible to ensure that you aren’t left panicking because the flowers haven’t arrived an hour before the ceremony.

Although you might still have some organisational matters to take care of, arrange a few treats to make sure that the morning of your wedding is still an enjoyable experience. Why not share a delicious champagne breakfast with your bridesmaids, or all sit together as you have your hair styles and your make-up applied? Relax in your robes and take time to enjoy every minute of your wedding day.

If you are headed off on your honeymoon that evening, then you will want to make sure that you are already packed by the day of your wedding. After all, you won’t want to spend your wedding morning running around trying to squeeze all your belongings into a suitcase. If you don’t have a wedding planner, then it can also be a good idea nominate a designated organiser, so that they can make sure everyone is where they need to be, rather than you trying to do it whilst getting ready for the ceremony.

{Weekend Inspiration} That’s So Clutch

October 2nd, 2012 | Posted by skirsner in Uncategorized - (Comments Off)

I can’t tell you how many times I have heard Etsy mentioned lately, so this past weekend I spent a little time browsing the site. People always tell me that I should sell my robes on Etsy, but everything on there must be hand made by the seller and although I do all of the sourcing and designing, I have other (amazing) people who do all of the cutting and sewing, in Los Angeles.

Photos from the Ocotopurse Shop on Etsy

I can see how one can get sucked in for hours on that site (I did)! I wanted to do a little “etsy roundup,” but I found myself completely drawn to one particular seller, Octopurse. There were several other honorable mentions though, such as MlleBagatelles, and Waterpath– they both have amazing clutches too! I love all of the Japanese influence!

Although of course I highly recommend Doie Lounge robes as bridesmaids gifts, but if someone were to go a different route (crazy talk, I know) it would seem that one could not go wrong with some of these gorgeous clutches.

{Saturday’s Song} Think I’m In Love

September 29th, 2012 | Posted by skirsner in Uncategorized - (Comments Off)

Think I’m in Love

I really think I better get a hold of myself
Don’t wanna let the night get ahead of myself
Whisperin’ her love through a smoke ring smile
She doesn’t know what happens when she’s aroundI think I’m in love
But it makes me kinda nervous to say so
I think I’m in love
But it makes me kinda nervous to say soDoodododododooodoo

Probably lay my head on a wooden floor
Tell her I was tired from working the store
Counting all the cash from an old shoebox
Saving up to buy her something she wants

I think I’m in love
But it makes me kinda nervous to say so
I think I’m in love
But it makes me kinda nervous to say so

What if it’s wrong?
What if it’s wrong
To pray in vain?
What does it mean
To fake your death?
To wake up tainted?

Take a little picture in a photobooth
Keep it in a locket and I think of you
Both of our pictures, face to face
Take off your necklace and throw it away

I think I’m in love
But it makes me kinda nervous to say so
I think I’m in love
But it makes me kinda nervous to say so

Really think I better get a hold of myself
Don’t wanna let the night get ahead of myself
Whisperin’ her love through a smoke ring smile
She doesn’t know what happens when she’s around

I think I’m in love
Think I’m in love
Think I’m in love
Think I’m in love
Think I’m in love
Think I’m in love
Think I’m in love
Think I’m in love

{Weekend Inspiration} Soulflower

September 25th, 2012 | Posted by skirsner in Uncategorized - (1 Comments)

Having just moved back up to the Bay Area, I have been having so much fun reconnecting with old friends. One such friend asked if I wanted to meet her in the city for lunch and check out her office. I quickly said yes and could not wait to check out the Soulflower SF headquarters! Emily is a friend of mine who went out on her own a few years ago and started an amazing floral design and event styling business. Not only are Emily’s creations gorgeous, but her business also has a commitment to sustainability and they use local and organic flower farms.

Just as I suspected, when I walked into her loft like office, in the Dog Patch area of San Francisco, there were beautiful flowers everywhere. I wanted to linger a little longer there but Emily is super busy (it is still “wedding season”) so we rushed out to have a quick lunch across the street.

My trip to Soulflower inspired me to notice the flowers all around me last weekend, but mostly it made me want to take a really long look at her website. I put together these photo “collages” using some of my favorite pics from her site. Which creations are your favorite? Take a look.

{Saturday’s Song} Quelqu’un M’a Dit

September 22nd, 2012 | Posted by skirsner in Uncategorized - (Comments Off)

Que tu m’aimais encore, me l’a t’on vraiment dit…

{White Wedding}

September 18th, 2012 | Posted by skirsner in Uncategorized - (Comments Off)

I always find it exciting and inspiring when a bride wants to do something a untraditional, which is why I was thrilled when Eve emailed me and wanted to go with white robes for her bridesmaids! I’ve had some brides who pick a robe other than white for themselves, but I had never had a bride contact me and want to get white robes for her maids.

There are two options for the white robes, so the bride herself also wore white, but she chose the Lilian for herself and the Bettina for her friends. I love how the pop of color on their robes makes her white dress stand out.

I thought it was a bold move on her part and the perfect gift for a summer wedding.

{Weekend Inspiration} Simple Chic

September 17th, 2012 | Posted by skirsner in Uncategorized - (Comments Off)

I attended a gorgeous wedding at the Mountain Home Inn, in Mill Valley (my home town), this past weekend. The wedding was one of the smallest that I have been to, and the details were simple but well thought out and chic. I loved the vases of Dahlia’s that lined each table and the place settings were beautifully done. The view from the deck, at dinner, was the best detail of all and they couldn’t have asked for a nicer day and night (weather wise).

I wanted to share a photo of the elegant and unfussy flower arrangements as well as my place setting. The little gift with my name on it is an English “cracker” that had a few small party favors inside. The table was understated but beautiful and the “crackers” made it fun and festive.
