{Saturday’s Song} Think I’m In Love

September 29th, 2012 | Posted by skirsner in Uncategorized - (Comments Off)

Think I’m in Love

I really think I better get a hold of myself
Don’t wanna let the night get ahead of myself
Whisperin’ her love through a smoke ring smile
She doesn’t know what happens when she’s aroundI think I’m in love
But it makes me kinda nervous to say so
I think I’m in love
But it makes me kinda nervous to say soDoodododododooodoo

Probably lay my head on a wooden floor
Tell her I was tired from working the store
Counting all the cash from an old shoebox
Saving up to buy her something she wants

I think I’m in love
But it makes me kinda nervous to say so
I think I’m in love
But it makes me kinda nervous to say so

What if it’s wrong?
What if it’s wrong
To pray in vain?
What does it mean
To fake your death?
To wake up tainted?

Take a little picture in a photobooth
Keep it in a locket and I think of you
Both of our pictures, face to face
Take off your necklace and throw it away

I think I’m in love
But it makes me kinda nervous to say so
I think I’m in love
But it makes me kinda nervous to say so

Really think I better get a hold of myself
Don’t wanna let the night get ahead of myself
Whisperin’ her love through a smoke ring smile
She doesn’t know what happens when she’s around

I think I’m in love
Think I’m in love
Think I’m in love
Think I’m in love
Think I’m in love
Think I’m in love
Think I’m in love
Think I’m in love

{Weekend Inspiration} Soulflower

September 25th, 2012 | Posted by skirsner in Uncategorized - (1 Comments)

Having just moved back up to the Bay Area, I have been having so much fun reconnecting with old friends. One such friend asked if I wanted to meet her in the city for lunch and check out her office. I quickly said yes and could not wait to check out the Soulflower SF headquarters! Emily is a friend of mine who went out on her own a few years ago and started an amazing floral design and event styling business. Not only are Emily’s creations gorgeous, but her business also has a commitment to sustainability and they use local and organic flower farms.

Just as I suspected, when I walked into her loft like office, in the Dog Patch area of San Francisco, there were beautiful flowers everywhere. I wanted to linger a little longer there but Emily is super busy (it is still “wedding season”) so we rushed out to have a quick lunch across the street.

My trip to Soulflower inspired me to notice the flowers all around me last weekend, but mostly it made me want to take a really long look at her website. I put together these photo “collages” using some of my favorite pics from her site. Which creations are your favorite? Take a look.

{Saturday’s Song} Quelqu’un M’a Dit

September 22nd, 2012 | Posted by skirsner in Uncategorized - (Comments Off)

Que tu m’aimais encore, me l’a t’on vraiment dit…

{White Wedding}

September 18th, 2012 | Posted by skirsner in Uncategorized - (Comments Off)

I always find it exciting and inspiring when a bride wants to do something a untraditional, which is why I was thrilled when Eve emailed me and wanted to go with white robes for her bridesmaids! I’ve had some brides who pick a robe other than white for themselves, but I had never had a bride contact me and want to get white robes for her maids.

There are two options for the white robes, so the bride herself also wore white, but she chose the Lilian for herself and the Bettina for her friends. I love how the pop of color on their robes makes her white dress stand out.

I thought it was a bold move on her part and the perfect gift for a summer wedding.

{Weekend Inspiration} Simple Chic

September 17th, 2012 | Posted by skirsner in Uncategorized - (Comments Off)

I attended a gorgeous wedding at the Mountain Home Inn, in Mill Valley (my home town), this past weekend. The wedding was one of the smallest that I have been to, and the details were simple but well thought out and chic. I loved the vases of Dahlia’s that lined each table and the place settings were beautifully done. The view from the deck, at dinner, was the best detail of all and they couldn’t have asked for a nicer day and night (weather wise).

I wanted to share a photo of the elegant and unfussy flower arrangements as well as my place setting. The little gift with my name on it is an English “cracker” that had a few small party favors inside. The table was understated but beautiful and the “crackers” made it fun and festive.

{Saturday’s Song} Today Was A Fairytale

September 15th, 2012 | Posted by skirsner in Uncategorized - (Comments Off)

Today Was A Fairytale

Today was a fairytale
You were the prince
I used to be a damsel in distress
You took me by the hand and you picked me up at six
Today was a fairytaleToday was a fairytale

Today was a fairytale
I wore a dress
You wore a dark grey t-shirt
You told me I was pretty
When I looked like a mess
Today was a fairytale

Time slows down
Whenever you’re around

Can you feel this magic in the air?
It must have been the way you kissed me
Fell in love when I saw you standing there
It must have been the way
Today was a fairytale

It must have been the way
Today was a fairytale

Today was a fairytale
You’ve got a smile that takes me to another planet
Every move you make everything you say is right
Today was a fairytale

Today was a fairytale
All that I can say
Is now it’s getting so much clearer
Nothing made sense until the time I saw your face
Today was a fairytale

Time slows down
Whenever you’re around

But can you feel this magic in the air?
It must have been the way you kissed me
Fell in love when I saw you standing there
It must have been the way
Today was a fairytale
It must have been the way
Today was a fairytale

Time slows down
Whenever you’re around
I can feel my heart
It’s beating in my chest
Did you feel it?
I can’t put this down

But can you feel this magic in the air?
It must have been the way you kissed me
Fell in love when I saw you standing there
It must have been the way

But can you feel this magic in the air?
It must have been the way you kissed me
Fell in love when I saw you standing there
It must have been the way
Today was a fairytale
It must have been the way
Today was a fairytale

Today was a fairytale

{We Want Moore} Coren Moore

September 13th, 2012 | Posted by skirsner in Uncategorized - (Comments Off)

I first met Coren Moore, in 2005, in New York City. We were both using the same factory to manufacture our clothing lines. At the time I was only designing and producing my Doie Designs line, and Doie Lounge had not yet been created. I was so intrigued by the gorgeous dresses she had designed and also the care that was put into each one of them. After that I often saw Coren, at the factory, inspecting & refining each dress until it was perfect.

Fast forward to today, and Coren Moore Brides and Maids is a thriving company that has been featured in all of the top bridal magazines and is sold in wedding boutiques nation wide! These gorgeous dresses are everywhere. There seems to be a style for everyone and the color choices are always on trend and eye catching. Her bridal collection does not disappoint either. As a fellow designer, I know how incredibly hard it is to design a bridal gown– I myself have never taken on that challenge.

Check out their fall promotion below!!

Coren Moore even has Jr. Bridesmaid and Flower Girl dresses! So Cute. Check out the entire site here: www.corenmoore.com and be sure to take a look at the “real weddings.”

{Weekend Inspiration} From The Source

September 11th, 2012 | Posted by skirsner in Uncategorized - (Comments Off)

This weekend I went to the source to find inspiration, Paper Source. I have been a fan of this store since I went years ago, in Manhattan. Luckily for me they had one near my apartment in Los Angeles and now there is one two blocks from my boyfriend’s place in San Francisco! Whenever I go in there for anything, I tend to get sucked in for way longer than planned.

I love their “fine paper,” they always have such amazing prints! The four above are my current favorites. I would love to do a peacock feather print for one of the robes.

{Saturday’s Song} And Then You

September 9th, 2012 | Posted by skirsner in Uncategorized - (Comments Off)

And Then You

How my thoughts they spin me ’round
And how my thoughts they let me down
And how my thoughts they spin me ’round
And how my thoughts they let me down

And how my dreams they spin me ’round
And how my dreams they let me down
And how my thoughts they spin me ’round
And how my thoughts they let me down

Then there’s you
Then there’s you
Then there’s you
Then there’s you

And how my love it spins me ’round
And how my love it’s let me down
And how my thoughts they spin me ’round
And how my thoughts they let me down

Then there’s you
Then there’s you
Then there’s you
Then there’s you

You know I know that you know
I’ve written it on myself if you can’t tell
With a melody that climbs and then falls, then falls, then falls
Without you, without you

How my days they spin me ’round
And how today it sets me down
And how my days they spin me ’round
And how today it sets me down

Alongside you
Alongside you
Alongside you

{Giveaway Winner} Alyssa Perri

September 7th, 2012 | Posted by skirsner in Uncategorized - (1 Comments)

Congratulations to Alyssa Perri, the winner of a Lilan robe from our contest with Style Me Pretty, NYC! I couldn’t wait to let Alyssa know that she had won the robe, but I was even more excited to hear the story behind her relationship and engagement. Read her story below and check out the adorable photos.

“My fiancé, Ed Leach, and I have been best friends for 10 years and have been dating for about 5 years. Being such great friends for so long before we started dating, really laid an amazing foundation for our relationship.
Our favorite place to be is at the beach. Ed proposed to me during sunset on the beach in Cape May, NJ. He had the ring for an entire year and I had no idea!! Following suit with our love for the beach, we had our engagement pictures taken in Long Beach Island, NJ, and we will also be getting married there in September 2013.”
